Sustainable Bamboo Cultivation in Togo

While removing the excess carbon from the atmosphere is our focus, we also support regional carbon removal projects that have the potential to scale and restore the atmosphere, while providing social and economic co-benefits.

Scaling up these nature-based carbon removal projects is crucial to solving the climate crisis and restoring the climate for future generations.

The Climate Restoration Fund is proud to support the Togo Bamboo Project, developed by the Climate Restoration Network, in partnership with multiple Togo stakeholders, including the Togolese Government.

Project Overview

Bamboo is known for its rapid growth rate and high carbon sequestration ability.

The Togo Bamboo Project aims to develop sustainable bamboo cultivation on 10,000 hectares (around 24,700 acres)
in the savannah region in northern Togo, near Tandjouare.

This project expands the brand of Climate Restoration beyond just the atmosphere. We believe that all climate action should be branded as Climate Restoration since Climate Restoration focuses on giving our children a livable planet.

Beyond direct employment, the project will engage with local communities to ensure their involvement and benefit. This will include educational programs on environmental stewardship, sustainable farming practices, and the benefits of bamboo in soil conservation and reforestation.

We need your help to raise an additional $25,000 (with a $25,000 generous matching from individual donors) to send a delegation of professionals to Togo, meet with the local stakeholder (including community leaders and government officials) and start the feasibility study for the project.

Please help us reach our $25,000 goal
