Agricultural Waste Processing Center in Israel
The South Negev region of Israel, particularly the area surrounding Bnei Netzarim, is characterized by extensive agricultural activity, primarily in greenhouse farming. The region's farmers rely heavily on plastic films for greenhouse covers, irrigation pipes, and other agricultural materials. These materials, while crucial for crop production, contribute significantly to the region's agricultural waste problem.
Annually, it is estimated that over 6,000 tons of plastic & organic waste are generated in the South Negev alone. Agricultural plastic waste includes crop covers, greenhouse films and irrigation pipes.
This waste poses serious environmental risks, including soil and water contamination, due to improper disposal and the limited recycling facilities available in the area. Additionally, the scattered nature of farms and the remote location make the collection and processing of this waste logistically challenging, leading to the accumulation of waste in open fields or its illegal incineration, which further exacerbates air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions.
Using advanced yet proven technologies such as pyrolysis and gasification, organic waste is converted to biochar and plastic waste is converted to electricity (agricultural-waste-to-energy). These products are then sold for profits.
Carbon credits and plastic credits will be issued and sold, to increase the financial viability of this approach, making this an attractive investment opportunity for investors.
To address this issue, we propose the establishment of an Agricultural Waste Processing Center (AWPC) in the village of Bnei Netzarim. This facility will serve as a central hub for collecting, sorting, and recycling agricultural waste from surrounding farms in the South Negev.
We are seeking seed funding of 350,000 ILS ($100,000 USD) for Stage 1: Planning & Permits.
Thank you for your consideration.
